Shocker: Monster Hunter 3 ships over 1 million copies in Japan

Wait! You’re telling me Japan likes some monster hunter? Na! “This is the first third party Wii game to have an initial shipment of over 1 million units in Japan. As a series, Monster Hunter has now surpassed 10 million units shipped.” Not bad for a “Pay-to-Play” online title. The online features will cost Japanese gamers 800 [...]

Zelda: A Link to the Past tops GamePro’s “30 Greatest 16-Bit Games”

In his “blast from the past” article, author McKinley Noble writes: It’s completely inadequate to say that A Link to the Past is an epic adventure, especially considering the fact that it had to follow the neglected Zelda II from the old NES days. Not only was A Link to the Past a return to some [...]

The “official” reason MadWorld and The Conduit failed to sell

While the speculation continues, I’ve got the real reasons MadWorld and The Conduit failed to meet sales expectations: MadWorld is in black and white. The Conduit is mediocre. Black and white and mediocre don’t sell, regardless of the platform. That said, selling mature games on Wii is not without its challenges. Only the above games have nothing to [...]

Black Sigil is a game that was published by Grafiti Entertainment and developed by Studio Archcraft, a Canadian developer who spent many years on an original 16-bit-style RPG. The game is based similar in the style of many loved Super Nintendo role playing games; mainly based on a similar battle style to Chrono Trigger, and [...]

What was your first Nintendo experience?

Posted: 11 Jul 2009 07:00 AM PDT

As with many of you, I fondly remember my first Nintendo experience. The year was 1986, and I was at a friend’s house playing the original Nintendo Entertainment System. This wasn’t the first console I played at home (the Atari 2600 owns that honor), but I instantly knew I was playing something very different. I [...]

Capcom: Resident Evil 5 “possible” on Wii. Infendo: “No thanks—We don’t care about boring sequels”

Posted: 10 Jul 2009 09:46 AM PDT

Some Capcom dude has been quoted as saying that Resident Evil 5 is “possible” on Wii. Still, it “isn’t likely,” he says. Were he talking about a game of consequence, say Capcom’s excellent Resident Evil 4, I would be saddened by the statement. But he’s not talking about a game of consequence. He’s talking about [...]

Game & Watch coming to DSiWare (in Japan)

Posted: 10 Jul 2009 09:42 AM PDT

Be still my nostalgic heart, for there’s Game & Watch games coming to DSiWare in the wonderful Land of the Rising sun. Sure, it’s Japan only, for now, but if clap really hard, and dust off all of our Mario’s Cement Factory games in unison, perhaps Nintendo will notice and throw a few our way? Maybe. [...]

Well… keep guessing, Reggie explained in a recent interview that you simply aren’t going to “get it” until you “get it.” And all I can tell you is, with the [...]

Wii fist: The image of a generation?

Posted: 09 Jul 2009 08:51 AM PDT

Kotaku, the world’s largest video game blog, wonders if the “Wii Remote raised in fist” has become the image of a generation. The motif was first seen in 2005 on the cover of Edge, followed by Nintendo Power in 2006, and this year in the form of an upcoming book. I don’t know about you, [...]

Don’t you wish Nintendo, Capcom, and Sega still made games together?

Posted: 08 Jul 2009 09:03 AM PDT

From MSNBC’s Top 5 defunct game developers: I bet you didn't know Nintendo, Capcom, and Sega created a joint venture at one time to make games. Well, they did. And it was awesome. Dubbed Flagship, the studio was entrusted with developing successors to several household names in gaming — "Zelda," "Kirby," "Resident Evil," and "Onimusha" to [...]

At Nintendo, even Miyamoto’s mistakes become games

Posted: 08 Jul 2009 08:29 AM PDT

So, funny story, dear Infendo readers… It seems that the golfing game in Wii Sports Resort was a bit of a mistake. Wasn’t supposed to be there. Sneaked passed the goalie. An “oops baby,” if you will. How? Well, in a story that’s only possible due to the sheer power wielded by Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the [...]

G4 looks at new Harry Potter game: Fans Only

Posted: 07 Jul 2009 11:06 PM PDT

I weighed in with my some impressions on this title just after E3, and I can’t say I’m surprised by G4’s conclusion - I could see the potion making and Quiddich portions of the game becoming very repetitive, and even the awesome little dueling element could get tiresome with enough repetition.  Still, if you’re a [...]

be sure to check out the sequel after the jump. The Gamer 1 & 2 are short ‘trailer movies’ created by ASU film student Chris Price and his friends in his home town of Phoenix, Arizona. Both were made with no budget at all and were thrown together in a very short span of time.  The [...]

Learn about the Tatsunoko characters in…Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars

Posted: 07 Jul 2009 09:00 AM PDT

I bet a lot of people probably don’t know the names of the Tatsunoko characters in Tatsunoko vs Capcom. It’s not surprising since a majority of them came from anime released in the early 70’s-90’s. Not to mention that half of the series never really made it over to America. So I thought I’d take some [...]

Miyamoto sorta kinda teases Kid Icarus title something

Posted: 07 Jul 2009 08:33 AM PDT

Shigeru Miyamoto, ever the distributor of quirky quotes and often a disseminator of info that the PR folks at Nintendo probably aren’t totally prepared he give out as soon as he does, is talking Kid Icarus this week. NP: And, of course, I have to ask: have you given any thought to putting a new Kid [...]

Video game drought of 2009

Posted: 07 Jul 2009 08:30 AM PDT

If you haven’t noticed, Nintendo news has been pretty dry around the net lately. Commonly known as the ’summer game drought’, these 3-4 months rarely yield any games/news relating to the industry that we’ve grown to love. Hang in there. It’s halfway over. Just remember it’s not as bad as the dreadful game drought of 2007. [...]

Infendo Quick Thought – Wii Sports Resort Japanese import impressions

Game Fight! Ghostbusters vs Indiana Jones

I recently played both Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones & The Staff Of Kings for Wii.  Here’s how they compare: Graphics - both games had visuals that looked great on the Wii.  Ghostbusters had some pretty twisted scenes and Indy looked great in deserts and dark rooftops alike, but the camera in Indiana Jones always seemed to [...]

No more Wii for No More Heroes

Posted: 02 Jul 2009 03:56 PM PDT

Next year’s sequel to the original No More Heroes will be the last on Wii, according to series creator Suda 51. “I think this is the last NMH that is going to be developed on Wii,” Suda told Edge. “To expand NMH to new possibilities, we need a new platform. Wii is a great platform, but [...]

New SMB Wii features Mario, Luigi, and two Toads - “that’s it,” says Miyamoto

Next Zelda not a departure for the series, Miyamoto seemingly assures

More of the same, that is if out of context quotes from Shigeru Miyamoto are to be believed. “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different,” the Zelda creator reputedly told Nintendo Power, by way of Aeropause. Great news for Twilight Princess fans hungry [...]
