Madden 10 screens look fun, not real on Wii

EA today released a fresh batch of screenshots for Madden NFL 10 on Wii. Reactions to the first screen were mixed. But keep in mind Madden die-hards will stick to Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Missed opportunity: DSi doesn’t play MP3 files

Reggie Says: No VC for DSi, Friend Codes Here to Stay

Posted: 04 Apr 2009 02:29 PM PDT

In a recent Interview with Wired, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime admitted there are no current plans to make classic Gameboy, GB Color, or GBA games available through the DSiWare download service: …we don’t want to see is a game that is available on a number of other platforms, either mobile or home, nor do [...]

Rumor: Wii Fit “Plus” Sequel in Fall, Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus on the way in Summer

Posted: 04 Apr 2009 02:12 PM PDT

GoNintendo is reporting rumored release dates on Wii Motion Plus, Wii Sports Resort, and something called “Wii Fit Plus” for July and November, respectively.  The tip comes by way of GoNintendo reader Maxemillian_X, who snapped a covert shot of an upcoming release list in an Amsterdam game shop.  We already knew Motion Plus and Wii [...]

Brutal Legends Rumors its Way onto the Wii

Posted: 03 Apr 2009 05:19 PM PDT

When 1UP asked Tim Schafer if Brutal Legends would be released on the Wii, he was quoted as saying “We are making an Xbox 360 and a PS3 version of Brutal Legend”. Which is interesting because he never once said that the game was not being made for the Wii. However, according to Variety’s gaming blog [...]

Guitar Hero: Metallica is expertly crafted, much like the band’s killer riffs

Posted: 03 Apr 2009 11:13 AM PDT

Let me be clear: I haven’t been excited about Metallica since the black album was released in 1991. To put it nicely, I don’t think the band has put out a good album since then, although admittedly I haven’t given them a chance after being turned off by their sound in the mid ’90s, not [...]

Seriously Nintendo? We’re sending ‘journalists’ cakes now?

Posted: 02 Apr 2009 08:29 AM PDT

GameIndustry.biz, as observant as ever in their latest weekly newsletter, rails against the lazy games media for building up the GDC conference into something it’s not. I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that Nintendo, in this particular case, is actually part of the overall problem. From the email-only GameIndustry.biz gnewsletter: It’s not just GDC that [...]

Amidst the spin, Reggie has a point

Posted: 01 Apr 2009 09:58 AM PDT

Developers typically blame used game sales when their bloated single-player titles end up in the bargain bin after a week on the shelf. Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime, on the other hand, looks at used games and sees an opportunity to stroke the Wii, so to speak. “We don’t believe used games are in the best interest of [...]

Deep Nintendological Thoughts #6: Please, oh please…

Posted: 01 Apr 2009 06:56 AM PDT

…don’t let there ever be a Guitar Hero: World Tour commercial that features Reggie Fils-Aime, Shigeru Miyamoto, Satoru Iwata and Cammie Dunaway. I say this because it seems like everyone who’s anyone is making one of these Risky Business knockoff spots. Honestly, don’t do it. I may become violent.

So which is it, Reggie?

Posted: 01 Apr 2009 06:48 AM PDT

When a doofus says a developer needs to sell X number of games on the Wii to be profitable, I all laugh accordingly. However, when Reggie says developers need to sell 1 million copies, on the record, in an interview with the New York Times, I first scratch my head and pray that this is [...]
